Reflecting on my abrupt layoff as a defense contractor at Leidos

On June 24, 2026, I was one of the approximately 400-500 employees laid off by Leidos, where I worked as a defense contractor. The process was quite abrupt; we received a mandatory meeting invite that led to a pre-recorded message announcing our layoffs. There was no follow-up communication from the company, and I could tell that even my manager was caught off guard by the decision. To make matters worse, there was no WARN notice provided.
