I recently applied for a job, but I found out that the owner is friends with someone who has been a bully to me at my current workplace. I can't shake the feeling that this bully may have said something to him about me. I also applied for another position where the interviewer seemed very interested in my profile. My current work environment has become quite toxic, largely due to this one individual who seems to stir up trouble. During the interview, I mentioned my upcoming trip to Italy in January and my plans to give notice at my current job in December. The interviewer asked if he could contact my current employer for a reference, but I declined, explaining that I need my stable income until I can leave. He understood and assured me he wouldn't reach out. However, a week has passed, and I haven't heard back from him. Interestingly, my current job has taken a turn for the better since my boss returned from vacation in a much better mood. I decided not to follow up on the new job opportunity since things seem to be improving here. Today, the workplace bully approached me and asked if I was still going to Italy soon, which made my heart sink. It felt like confirmation that he had talked to the interviewer about me. Now, I'm left wondering if they really know each other and if this could jeopardize my chances at the new job. I'm feeling a bit anxious about the whole situation.
