Navigating the Appeal Process After Being Let Go from My Job in Texas

I recently found myself in a tough situation after being let go from my job in Texas. I was informed by my previous employer that I was fired, which has led me to file an appeal since I believe this was more of a layoff situation. My separation letter praised my high standards and quality of work, but the company was undergoing a transition where my role was being dissolved and my responsibilities were distributed among several other employees. I was blindsided during a meeting where I was supposed to discuss future projects, only to be told they didn’t want me to continue with the new company. Over my nearly five years there, I never received any formal reviews, and the only feedback I got was two years ago when I was told I was blunt in my emails. I had no disciplinary actions or write-ups, which makes this situation even more confusing. Additionally, I had previously raised concerns to HR about my supervisor's behavior, especially after I was reprimanded for not answering a personal phone call over the weekend. Now, I'm trying to navigate the unemployment process and would appreciate any insights on how to approach this situation, especially regarding the appeal.
