Navigating my transition to a casual childcare worker role and job security concerns

I recently transitioned from a full-time position to a casual role at my childcare job after 1.5 years of working there. I had just completed my traineeship and received a certification that came with a pay raise. My manager proposed the casual arrangement, and I, perhaps naively, agreed to it mainly because of the 25% increase in my hourly wage. However, I'm now feeling anxious about whether this was the right decision. I'm concerned it might be a strategy for quiet firing, leaving me without guaranteed hours. I'm debating whether to stick it out and see if I get regular shifts or start looking for a new job. I've been advised to ask my manager about minimum hours and to apply for multiple positions as a backup plan.
