I'm currently feeling stuck in my retail management role and desperately want to transition to a more corporate position. I've been in retail for over four years, starting as a floor manager at a secondhand clothing store, and quickly moving up the ranks to store manager at a larger company. While I enjoy the sustainability aspect of my work and have developed a range of skills in team building, training, operations, and customer service, the low pay, demanding hours, and challenging customer interactions have taken a toll on me. I recently accepted an assistant manager position at a different location, which offered a more manageable workload and slightly better pay. However, I'm still feeling overwhelmed and dissatisfied with the retail environment. I've expressed interest in moving into corporate roles, but those positions are scarce and highly competitive, especially since the company is not doing well. I'm now actively looking for opportunities outside my current company, particularly in operations coordination, e-commerce management, and training and development. I want to leverage my transferable skills and my bachelor's degree in art to find a role that offers a better work/life balance and feels more fulfilling. I'm tired of working weekends and late nights, and I want to make a successful pivot into a corporate setting. Any advice on how to effectively showcase my skills for these types of roles would be greatly appreciated.
