I've been working as a social worker (MSW) for almost two years now, and I'm feeling the urge for a change. The job is quite demanding, making it tough to apply for new positions while still employed. I want to focus on finding a role that is strictly therapy-related. I'm considering the option of quitting my job, taking about a month off, and then diving into the job search. However, I'm worried about how much harder it might be to get hired without a current job. One upside is that I could use my supervisors as references without the awkwardness of still being employed here. I'm looking for advice on whether this is a good strategy or if I should stick it out a bit longer.
