I’ve been unemployed since February and it feels like I'm hitting a wall with my job search. I’ve applied to various positions, including office jobs and warehouse roles, but I haven’t had much luck. I’ve managed to secure a few phone interviews, but they never progressed further. Recently, I decided to apply for part-time restaurant jobs since I have experience in that field from my early work history, thinking it might increase my chances. Unfortunately, the responses have been minimal; I only heard back from two places, and both require me to commute over 40 minutes for less than 16 hours a week at $15/hour. With gas prices, it just doesn't make sense financially. To make ends meet, I've been doing DoorDash, but I really don't want to keep putting wear and tear on my car. Additionally, I had a surgical technologist position during my time in the military, but I didn't complete the training due to an injury that led to my discharge. I’m starting to wonder if my resume is the issue since I'm not getting callbacks. I’ve received some advice to improve it, like using AI to optimize it for ATS and focusing on my core skills, but I’m feeling overwhelmed. I know I need to revisit my job titles and make them more precise, and I’m considering whether I should pursue a degree or certification to boost my qualifications. It’s frustrating, and I’m not sure what my next steps should be.
