Navigating Career Anxiety and Feeling Trapped in My IT Management Role

Today, I find myself grappling with intense career anxiety. My current role in IT, which primarily involves management and coordination, feels overwhelming and disconnected from my initial aspirations. I graduated with a business degree but struggled academically, even dropping out of a Master’s program. Now, I feel trapped in a conservative company where mistakes are magnified, and I’m constantly on edge. Social anxiety makes it hard for me to assert myself or connect with colleagues, leaving me feeling like an outsider. I wake up with chest pain, dreading the workday ahead, and I’m exhausted, lacking motivation. Although I’m stuck in this job until the end of the year due to a restrictive contract, the thought of applying elsewhere terrifies me. I worry my resume doesn’t stand out in a tough job market. I’ve started therapy and mindfulness sessions, but progress feels slow. I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has faced similar challenges and how they managed to overcome them.
