I was recently laid off from my position as a broadcast technician at a media company. The layoff happened unexpectedly during a live broadcast, which was quite shocking for me and my colleagues. It felt surreal to be in the middle of work and suddenly find out that my role was no longer needed. I've been reflecting on the situation and the comments from others, with some suggesting that my previous employer's focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives may have played a role in the decision-making process. Now, I'm actively searching for new opportunities in the broadcasting field.
