Applied for Project Coordinator role amid concerns about job security in Ontario

I’m feeling pretty anxious about my job situation at my current company. I work as a Project Coordinator in Ontario, and I’m almost certain I’m being replaced. Over the past few months, my managers have repeatedly told me that my performance isn’t meeting expectations, although I haven’t been put on a formal Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Recently, I discovered that my exact position has been posted on Indeed, and I found out they’ve hired a recruiter specifically for this role. While they mentioned needing another Project Coordinator for Vancouver and other provinces, the job listing is clearly for my role in Ontario. Given these circumstances, I’m assuming my replacement is already in the works. Now, I’m torn about how to address this with my employer. Part of me wants to confront them directly to clarify my position, but I also recognize that it might be wiser to keep quiet for now. I’m considering asking my manager directly if my position is being replaced or waiting for them to bring it up. I’m also contemplating saying something like, "I noticed a posting that appears to be my role. I’d appreciate knowing where I stand." I’ve started applying for other jobs, so I’m looking for advice on how to handle this conversation professionally. I’ve seen comments suggesting that confronting them could speed up the inevitable, which has me worried. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What did you do, and did it help or hurt your case?
