I recently received a job offer for an administrative position at a law firm, but it's contingent on passing a background check. I have some concerns because I slightly exaggerated my employment duration on my resume to cover some gaps and also included my relative's company as part of my work history. Given that it's a law firm, I'm worried they might conduct a more thorough background check than other employers. Additionally, I have had some criminal charges that were dismissed, and I'm unsure if those will show up in the background check. I’ve read that lying about employment dates could be caught during verification, and I’m starting to feel anxious about the whole situation. I really want this job, but I fear that my past misrepresentations might jeopardize the offer.
