I'm currently navigating a challenging phase in my career and could really use some guidance. After graduating with a B.Tech in Computer Science in 2016, I initially worked in Technical Support for about 2.5 years, assisting US customers with various issues. However, I transitioned to a Java Backend Developer role in 2019, where I spent 3.5 years and enjoyed my work, eventually earning around 15 LPA. Unfortunately, my company faced difficulties due to a merger and many of us were laid off in late 2022. I made the mistake of resigning without negotiating severance, which I now regret. Since then, I've struggled to find new opportunities, especially with a significant gap in my resume. I even enrolled in a 9-month Data Science & AI course, but by the time I completed it, the job market for entry-level positions in that field had dried up. It's been almost 2.5 years since I left my last job, and the toll on my mental health has been heavy. Thankfully, my wife has been a tremendous support, encouraging me to keep pushing forward. Currently, I'm focusing on upskilling in Full Stack Java, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React, while also refreshing my Java and Spring Boot knowledge. I'm open to various roles, including Technical Support and Application Support, and I'm flexible with location and salary, willing to relocate or accept contract positions to get back into the workforce. I'm seeking advice on how to best position my 2.5-year gap in interviews and whether I should target Technical Support roles first or continue pursuing Java Developer positions. Additionally, if anyone has leads or referrals for mid-level Java Backend or Full Stack Developer roles, or Senior Technical/Application Support roles in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, or remote, I would greatly appreciate it.
