Navigating Job Changes as a Single Father: Balancing Work and Family Needs

I recently found myself in a challenging job situation. After spending 7 years in a role that I eventually stopped enjoying, I decided to quit and look for something new. In the past two months, I've been hired and quit two different jobs within a month each time because they didn't meet my expectations. Currently, I'm at a job that I actually enjoy, but the hours are overwhelming. They promised 8-10 hour days, but I've been consistently working 10-12 hours without extra pay, which is tough as a single father with full custody. They keep saying things will improve, but I'm skeptical since they also mention that holidays are particularly demanding. Now, I'm in a position where I have multiple interviews lined up in the next couple of days for similar roles at different companies. The new positions offer a 10-hour workday for 4 days a week, and they pay hourly, which means if I work more, I’ll actually be compensated. The job descriptions even state that no one is allowed to work over 40 hours, which sounds like a safer bet for my situation. I’ve been grappling with whether I’m being rational by jumping around for better opportunities or if it’s immoral to leave jobs shortly after training. I feel guilty because I know companies invest time and resources into onboarding new employees. However, I also recognize that companies wouldn't hesitate to let me go if it suited them. I’m considering using the new job offers as leverage to negotiate better conditions with my current employer, but I’m unsure if that’s the right approach. I’m a loyal person at heart, and the guilt is weighing on me. Am I overthinking this? Should I just focus on what’s best for my situation and my kids?
