Navigating the challenges after a failed management promotion in the restaurant industry

I recently accepted a promotion to a management role at the restaurant where I've been a lead server for three years, but it didn't work out, and now I'm out of a job. The plan was for me to train in the kitchen, but three weeks in, I was informed that I would be managing the kitchen full-time, which was overwhelming since I had no prior kitchen experience. I quickly realized I wasn't progressing fast enough to handle that responsibility, so I requested to return to my server position until a front-facing management role opened up. Before I accepted the promotion, I was assured I could come back if things didn’t work out, but when I asked to return, I was told I could only get 1-2 shifts a week instead of the 5 I was promised. They had hired someone to fill my server position while I was training, and now I’m stuck with barely any hours. It's frustrating because I assumed I would be able to work my way back to a full-time schedule, especially when I see others who left and returned getting their schedules restored. I feel misled and angry about the whole situation. I wish they had been upfront about the expectations for the promotion and the potential consequences of accepting it. I’m looking for advice and to hear if others have faced similar experiences. Thanks for letting me vent.
