Navigating Frustrations with Inconsistent Expectations at My New Job

I recently started a new job at a company after spending many years in salaried positions. Now, I'm working hourly, and while I understand the importance of timekeeping, I'm feeling really frustrated with my manager's inconsistent expectations. I'm 52 years old and have always been punctual, rarely taking breaks, yet my manager has questioned my 30-minute lunch periods without providing any specific examples. The only time I exceeded my lunch was by 15 minutes for a virtual health appointment, and I made up that time. Despite my dedication, it seems like I'm under constant scrutiny, while a coworker who often comes in late and doesn't follow instructions seems to get a pass. I know there might be private discussions I’m not aware of, but it’s disheartening to feel singled out. Additionally, there have been several changes regarding my birthday off and working from home on Fridays. Initially, I was told I could take my birthday off and work from home, but those plans changed, and I was told I had to be onsite until my 90-day mark. Yet, there have been Fridays when both my manager and trainer were absent, leaving me alone in the office. I genuinely like the company and want to succeed, but the shifting expectations and constant scrutiny are making it hard for me to focus on learning my role. I'm considering documenting everything and emailing my manager to clarify expectations, but I'm worried that might backfire since I'm still new. I'm also feeling stuck in this situation, especially at my age, and I'm starting to think about looking for a new role. I’ve heard that my manager has had a negative impact on others in the team, with several people leaving due to her. It’s a tough spot to be in, and I could really use some advice on how to navigate this situation without escalating things unnecessarily.
