I started my job as a driver at a logistics company 5 months ago, and I've been feeling increasingly frustrated. My workload has grown significantly beyond what was outlined in the job description and what was discussed during the interview. Despite being the only driver with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in the company, I'm being paid the same as my colleagues who have lighter workloads and no CDL. About two months ago, I presented a case to my boss for a raise, detailing the extra responsibilities I've taken on, and she advised me to wait until October for a decision since corporate wasn't reviewing wages in August and September. I made it clear that if my pay didn't increase, I would have to consider leaving. Recently, I noticed that my boss has been trying to hire a backup CDL driver but has had no luck due to the low pay and high demands of the job. I saw a new job listing for that position last Friday, and to my surprise, it had a much higher pay range than what I'm currently earning. I’m contemplating how to approach my boss about this. I want to ask her directly about the pay increase for the new position and what that means for my role. I’m also actively looking for other job opportunities because I’m feeling burnt out and undervalued. I had hoped that by the time October rolled around, my raise would be approved, but now it seems like they don’t need to wait for that decision. I just want to figure out the best way to address this with my boss, as I feel stuck in a position where I’m underpaid and overworked.
