Reflecting on Job Applications: Is Tailoring Resumes Still Effective?

I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed with my job search lately. After months of applying to various positions, I’ve noticed a trend that’s really got me questioning my approach. I read a discussion where people were talking about using AI tools to customize their resumes for hundreds of applications. It made me wonder, if everyone is tailoring their resumes, doesn’t that just become the new baseline? It feels like everyone has access to these tools now, and I’m starting to think that tailoring my resume doesn’t really set me apart anymore; it’s just the minimum expectation. I’ve been burned out, and with the job market seeming to get worse, I’m left wondering if any of my efforts will actually make a difference. Interestingly, I’ve also seen some comments suggesting that a more generic resume might actually yield better results. I’ve been tempted to try that route since it’s quicker and seems to be getting some traction for others. It’s disheartening to think that despite all the effort I put into customizing my applications, it might not even give me the edge I hoped for.
