I’m currently in the process of transitioning out of my role as a Senior Financial Analyst, and I recently learned that the company where I used to work is closing down. While I was browsing LinkedIn, I found the profile of the person who replaced me in my previous position. She is currently listed as "Open to Work" due to the impending closure of the company. I really appreciated my time with my old team and have a lot of trust in my former manager's hiring decisions. Since they chose her to fill my role, I believe she would be a great fit for my current team, which I also care about deeply and want to leave in good hands. Although we don’t know each other personally, we share similar experiences in our field. I’m contemplating whether it would be appropriate to reach out to her via LinkedIn to discuss my current position and offer a referral. I’m curious about how others might feel if they received such a message while facing a layoff. Would it be seen as helpful or overstepping?
