I recently experienced a layoff from my first job as a marketing assistant at a tech startup. The company underwent significant headcount cuts, and although my position wasn't directly eliminated due to AI, the team was actively developing an AI model that would eventually take over many of our responsibilities. It was unsettling to see that some of my coworkers were primarily doing tasks that the AI was designed to replace, leaving their future uncertain. Now, I'm noticing that many of my peers are struggling to land their first jobs after graduation. Some are stuck freelancing or taking part-time gigs that don’t even require a degree, which makes me wonder if entry-level roles are becoming extinct. I’m also concerned about the impact of AI on the job market. I’m trying to figure out a backup plan for my career path in case I can’t find a job in my field. It feels like a challenging time for Gen Z, and I’m curious to hear if others are facing similar issues.
