Philips North America LLC Preparing To Lay Off Workers In Gainesville, Florida

Philips North America LLC first filed a WARN in Florida on November 1, 2021. The WARN explained that the company would be carrying out a mass layoff at its Gainesville facility at 3545 SW 47th Avenue. Philips will begin laying off workers on December 31, 2021, with roughly 330 being laid off in total. The layoffs will occur in waves. The company anticipates that the last termination will take place on or around March 31, 2022.

The employment terminations are expected to be permanent. Impacted workers are not represented by a union nor do they have access to bumping rights. A follow-up WARN was filed on December 17, 2021. The WARN again confirms the company will be laying off 330 in several waves in 2021 and 2022. Among the workers being laid off by Philips North America include assembly technicians, electronic technicians, defect investigation technicians, assemblers, machine operators, and repair technicians.

The mass layoff is commencing on December 31, 2021. The remaining waves will take place on February 25, 2022 and March 31, 2022.
