I recently found myself in a challenging yet fortunate position after being laid off last June and running out of unemployment benefits two months ago. I've received two job offers and I'm torn between them. Job A is a W2 position with a base salary of $46k plus commission. It comes with benefits like a 401k, PTO, and a company car, which is definitely appealing for stability. On the other hand, Job B is a 1099 contract role that pays $110k for a three-month term, with no benefits or PTO. It's a hybrid position, requiring me to be in the office two days a week, which is about a 30-minute commute. I've never worked as a 1099 contractor before, but I understand the implications. The company was impressed with my interview, and I believe there’s a good chance they might extend my contract or even offer a full-time position later on. I feel that I would enjoy Job B more since it aligns closely with my 13 years of experience in the field, but Job A offers guaranteed full-time employment and benefits. I'm really unsure which option is the best for my situation.
