I’ve been working part-time in retail since April, but it’s become a nightmare. My boss constantly monitors us through cameras and sends passive-aggressive texts, even when I’m doing my job well. I feel singled out compared to my coworkers who seem to get away with things I’m reprimanded for. For instance, I got written up for violating a uniform policy that wasn’t even clear, while others wear inappropriate clothing without consequences. I’ve also been punished for using my phone during downtime, which my coworkers do freely. The stress of this job is affecting my mental health, and I want to quit without notice to avoid the awkwardness of a two-week limbo. However, I feel guilty because my boss and coworkers will be short-staffed if I leave, especially since I only have a loose job opportunity lined up. I’m struggling to find the courage to just leave this toxic environment. How do I get my act together and walk away from this place?
