Acceptable_Sample110's journey

I recently accepted a new position at a tech startup, which I was really excited about, especially since I was told I would be leading a team in a new region. As a woman in STEM, I've faced my share of disappointments in the past, particularly being overlooked for promotions in favor of less qualified men. I thought this new role was a turning point for me. However, I found out just a few days ago that they hired another person with the same title as mine, and we will be working laterally. To make matters worse, this person is from my current company and has always been unfriendly to me. I’ve had to pick up their slack multiple times, and they have half the experience I do, with zero experience in this new field. No one communicated to me that my lead role would be shared, and I feel completely let down. I was genuinely looking forward to a fresh start and the opportunity to finally lead, but now my excitement has been severely tainted. I'm hoping to find some positivity in this situation, but it's tough.
