I recently faced a tough decision regarding a job offer I received while being unemployed for three months. A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn about a position I didn't apply for, and after some initial hesitation, I decided to interview. The first virtual interview went well, and I started feeling optimistic about the role. However, the second in-person interview raised several red flags. I discovered that the job required full-time, in-person hours from 8 AM to 5 PM every day, contrary to what I was told about hybrid scheduling. The working conditions were less than ideal, as the office was in a small trailer due to renovations after a fire. Additionally, the health insurance offered was subpar, and I would only receive three sick days a year. With my health issues requiring regular appointments, I realized this role wouldn’t work for me. I contemplated accepting the offer just to have something while I continued my job search, but the lack of flexibility and poor conditions made it clear that I couldn't take the job without jeopardizing my health. Now, I'm concerned about the implications for my unemployment benefits in Pennsylvania. I know I need to report any job refusals, but I'm unsure if this job qualifies as 'suitable' work since I didn’t apply for it and it doesn’t meet my needs. I'm feeling stuck and worried about the potential loss of my benefits if I decline the offer.
