I recently started a new job and it's turning into a nightmare. I'm currently trying to navigate a toxic work environment while looking for a new opportunity. It's been tough, and I feel like I'm dealing with subtle harassment and unnecessary drama. For instance, I've been asked multiple times if I'm a mom, and when I said no, the response felt judgmental. It’s frustrating because I wouldn’t judge anyone for their personal life choices, but it seems like others are judging me for mine. I also had to go into a coworking space for a few hours recently, even though I'm usually remote, because there was no quiet place for meetings. I was told I need to be more participatory during in-office days, which means I have to take calls in a loud environment. During a recent meeting, I was multitasking because I was overwhelmed with client issues, and I didn’t get a chance to contribute. Afterward, I was pinged about my mic being muted, which felt unfair since I was working 18 hours that day. Additionally, my use of a specific note-taking app was publicly criticized during a team meeting. It made me feel singled out and unappreciated for trying to stay organized. Even during onboarding, I expressed feeling overwhelmed by the instability in my workload, and my trainer scoffed at me, which was disheartening. I’m not someone who lets people walk all over me, but sometimes I come off as meek. I’m tempted to have a direct conversation about these issues because they are ridiculous. However, I know the job market is tough right now, and I might be interviewing for months. I'm feeling burnt out from my previous job, and I’m struggling to keep my cool in this current situation. I want to fly under the radar while I search for a new job. If anyone has tips on how to manage this while being covert, I would really appreciate it.

I recently started a new job as a project manager at a tech company, and it has turned into a complete nightmare. Just a week in, I realized I made a huge mistake leaving my previous stable but stressful position. Instead of the exciting opportunity I was promised, I found myself in a chaotic environment where my main role is to put out fires and deal with the aftermath of broken partnerships. I’m working 70 hours a week, drowning in meetings, and barely have time to think or strategize. It feels like I’m constantly scrambling to keep up, and the micromanagement over trivial matters is draining. Everyone I see on video calls looks just as exhausted as I feel. The turnover here is alarming, making it even harder to manage relationships with our already upset partners. I can’t go back to my old job because I said goodbye to my clients and coworkers, and they’ve already filled my position. I’ve been in a similar situation before, and I managed to find a better job quickly, but this time feels different. I’ve updated my resume to include this job, even though I’ve only been here a month, and I’m preparing to explain my situation to potential employers. I’m worried about how to address this gap in my employment history. I could say I left for a break, but that feels dishonest. I’d rather be upfront about realizing I joined during a restructuring phase and that my main client is currently leaving. I’m feeling overwhelmed and burnt out all over again. Has anyone else gone through something similar? What should I do next?
