I recently started a part-time job at FedEx after being laid off from what I considered my dream job. It took me nearly two years to find this position, and I was really excited to finally have some income again. However, after just a week, I'm already questioning whether I should quit. The training was minimal, and I was thrown into loading trucks without proper preparation. The job is incredibly demanding and stressful, and I find myself working harder than I ever have for one of the lowest paychecks I've received in my 20s. Living in Raleigh, NC, where the job market is particularly tough, I didn’t think much about the costs associated with getting to work. My roommate has been covering my Uber rides, which adds up to a significant amount each week. After doing the math, I realized that I’m only pocketing about $70-$30 a week after transportation costs, not even factoring in food expenses. I was initially determined to stick it out, but now I'm feeling overwhelmed and unhappy. My family and friends were excited for me when I got this job, and I’m torn between quitting and trying to make it work. I’m leaning towards quitting because of the relentless pace and stress, but I’m unsure if that’s the right choice. I could really use some advice on what to do next.
