  1. 1

Today was a tough day for me. I had a 1x1 scheduled with my VP and HR after returning from a health-related absence. I had been in the hospital due to dangerously high blood pressure and took a few days off to recover, which my bosses supported. I was feeling anxious but confident about my job performance, believing my contributions were valued and that my customers appreciated me. However, during the meeting, I was informed that I was being laid off. They assured me it wasn't due to my performance, but rather a decision to transition the DFW market to a virtual model, making my role redundant. What stings is that I had been advocating for a replacement for the previous sales person since I joined a year ago, warning that without someone in the field, my position could be at risk. Ironically, they hired a new sales person just two weeks ago. I really enjoyed my job and am disappointed to see it end this way.
