In September, I was laid off from my entry-level digital marketing job, which was a tough blow, especially since I was replaced by AI. I was worried about finding another position in this challenging job market, but I managed to land a role at a multi-state construction company in their marketing department. The team has been fantastic, my boss gives me the freedom to work independently, and I even have my own office. After 90 days, I can switch to a hybrid work model, plus they offer free insurance and the commute is only half an hour. However, as I dive into the work, I realize that RFQs (Request for Quotations) aren’t something I envisioned for myself in the communications field. Just two days after starting, I received an offer from a huge global company for a position in internal communications and employee storytelling, which aligns perfectly with my career aspirations. The downside is that I still need to find out about the insurance premiums, and the open office setup with dividers isn't ideal for me. The commute could stretch to 45 minutes with traffic, but they’re offering a hybrid schedule right from the start and a salary that’s $12K more than what I currently earn. I never expected to be weighing these options, especially in this market. My instincts tell me to pursue the internal communications role, but I’m torn about leaving the comfort and security of my new job.
