I recently experienced a layoff from a major bank where I've worked for over a decade. They just announced around 4,000 layoffs in our NYC office, supposedly to fund AI innovation, yet they insist that the layoffs aren't directly related to AI. It's frustrating, especially since I’m expected to train AI models before I leave. I'm really disappointed with how the management, including my EVP and SVPs, have handled this situation. They didn't acknowledge the news at all; I saw them in the hall and it felt like I was invisible. They held a meeting with the teams but left those of us impacted just sitting at our desks without any support. It's clear that AI is influencing job security, and I wish they would just be honest about it.
