I’m feeling really disheartened after having two job offers rescinded back-to-back due to bizarre circumstances. The first offer was from my former employer, where I was in the final stages of receiving the offer letter. Just as I was about to negotiate my salary, I got a call saying that the offer was rescinded because of a difficult client who had a personal grievance against me. It felt completely out of my control and left me stunned. Then, I thought I had a fresh start with a new company. I received an offer last week, and the recruiter was enthusiastic, even encouraging me to negotiate my salary. I asked for a modest $4K increase, but after a week of silence, I got the disappointing call today that the offer was rescinded. The reason? The company had to cut 30 internal employees due to a client’s decision, and they needed to reorganize to protect their existing staff. While I understand their decision and appreciate that they are looking out for their current employees, I can't help but feel jinxed. Has anyone else experienced such a streak of bad luck? How do you stay positive during times like this?
