I recently made a big decision regarding my job situation. After just two weeks at a new company, I left my previous toxic job out of desperation, accepting a role that wasn't my ideal title and came with a lower base salary. The commute has been brutal, taking 45 minutes to an hour in traffic, which has been draining. Last week, I interviewed for a position that aligns more with my career goals, offering a better salary and, most importantly, it's only a 5-minute commute from my apartment. I felt it was a no-brainer and accepted the offer. However, I quit my current job today, and now I'm second-guessing myself. My boss and the HR director were trying to convince me to stay, highlighting the potential for a generous yearly bonus—up to 12+ months of salary—which sounds enticing. I can't help but feel like I might have thrown away a significant financial opportunity. I know I made the decision based on what’s best for my long-term happiness and career path, but it’s hard not to worry about the money I might be missing out on. The comments from others have been helpful, reminding me that I just started and that the commute was a huge factor in my decision. I hope I made the right choice.
