  1. 1

I had an interview last week for a position that seemed promising at a company I was excited about. The people I spoke with were friendly, and the benefits sounded amazing, almost too good to be true. However, during the interview, the person who would have been my boss made a comment that really threw me off. He said, 'we’re like family here... well, everybody except the person who is currently in the role you’re interviewing for.' That left me feeling uneasy, but I managed to finish the interview without letting it show. Later that day, I received a job offer, but I asked for some time to think it over and discuss it with my current boss. Ultimately, I decided to decline the offer because my current job valued me more than I expected and offered me a better package. Looking back, I feel like I dodged a bullet. I'm curious if others have experienced similar situations where an interviewer has spoken negatively about current staff. Is that a common red flag?
