I graduated in 2024 with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing, and as a first-generation college graduate at 25, I'm currently living with my family while job hunting. Finding a job in my field has been tougher than I expected. After graduation, I took a job at a hotel to make ends meet, and now I'm working in leasing. While my current job pays $20/hr plus commission, it's not where I want to be long-term. My passion lies in digital marketing and social media, and I'm actively pursuing certifications to enhance my resume and even starting my own social media management business. My parents have been supportive and want to help me find jobs, but the positions they send my way are often unrelated to my degree and not in my area of interest. I've expressed my career goals to them multiple times, but it feels like they aren't fully understanding my perspective. They seem to want me to take any high-paying job just to help me move out, but I want to ensure I'm secure and not just rushing into a position that doesn't align with my career aspirations. I have about $20k saved up, which gives me some flexibility, but I’m determined to find a job that fits my long-term vision.
