I was laid off yesterday, and honestly, it was a shock to me. I work at a large Contract Research Organization (CRO), and I had always felt comfortable in my cozy subdivision where I collaborated closely with my colleagues. However, they decided to lay off both me and a colleague in the same meeting, which felt a bit strange and lacking in compassion. This is my first experience with a layoff, so I'm just trying to process everything. I've heard that multiple people can be laid off at once, but I didn't expect it to happen this way. It felt impersonal, and I’m left wondering if this is a common practice or if it’s just my unfortunate experience.
