I recently resigned from my position as a paraprofessional at an autism school, and honestly, I feel relieved. My hours had been cut down to just two days a week, which was frustrating since I was already working five days a week. The administration, particularly the director, created a toxic environment. Although they occasionally showed appreciation, I often felt undervalued and unappreciated. This unhappiness had been building up over the last couple of months, and my last day was May 29th. I communicated to my boss that working only two days a week wasn't feasible for me and requested a full-time position. Unfortunately, she informed me that there were no full-time opportunities available, which prompted me to start searching for a new job. On a positive note, I had a few job interviews lined up, and last Wednesday, I attended two of them. Just last Friday, I received a call from one of the directors at another school where I had applied, asking if I was still interested in the position. I was thrilled to say yes! They sent me a contract, which I reviewed carefully and found satisfactory. I officially resigned from my previous job and will be starting at the new autism school in two weeks on July 27th! I didn't expect the transition to happen so quickly. While I will still be working as a paraprofessional, I am hopeful that this new environment will treat me with the respect and appreciation I deserve. Good riddance to my old job!
