I'm currently in a tough spot with my job search. I work for the state and have a stable position, but as the sole breadwinner, my income isn't enough to cover our bills. I've been receiving overdue notices, which adds to the pressure to find a higher-paying job quickly. I have a background in public benefits, housing programs, program management, and direct client service, and I've been applying for roles that align with my experience. Recently, I interviewed for a position that seemed like a perfect match—great salary and benefits, and I felt I could really make a difference. However, I left the interview feeling like I wasn't as articulate as I wanted to be, and unfortunately, I was rejected. I've had two other interviews where I thought I connected well with the interviewers, but again, I didn't move forward. It's left me feeling confused and discouraged. I wonder if working fully remote has impacted my communication skills. Most of my work is done through emails and structured meetings, and I don't get as much spontaneous speaking practice as I used to. Even in meetings, I get nervous giving updates, despite my coworkers saying I sound fine. The pressure is immense; every opportunity feels like it could change my family's situation. I know I need encouragement and support from others who have faced similar challenges in their job search. Has anyone else experienced a string of interviews without offers? How did you keep your spirits up? Also, if anyone knows of free or low-cost resources for interview prep or mock interviews, I would greatly appreciate it.
