I was laid off from my role as a program manager at a nonprofit due to the end of federal funding in December 2025, after four years of service. Shortly after that, I welcomed my baby in March 2026. Now, as I begin my job search again, I’m facing a 7-month gap on my resume and I’m unsure how to address it. I’ve received advice suggesting that I might not need to mention it since it’s a relatively short period. However, I’m considering including some form of training or skill development during that time to demonstrate that I stayed engaged in my field. Any thoughts on the best approach?
