I was laid off a few weeks ago from my role at a tech startup, just before I was about to hit my work anniversary. It was a tough pill to swallow. Earlier today, I saw a post from the CEO on LinkedIn, where he mentioned that they are putting new business initiatives on hold to 'take a breath' and focus on fixing the scaffolding of the company. He also mentioned working on AI projects and ensuring that the existing team has what they need to continue their valuable work. It felt bittersweet to see that, especially since I had hoped to be part of those future efforts.
