I left my job about a month ago due to mental health issues after being there for over six years. I had used all my FMLA and initially returned to work, but my mental health regressed again, leading me to resign. Now, I'm feeling better and considering reapplying to the same position. I know I would have to start over as a new applicant, but I truly enjoyed my role and was devastated to leave. I'm unsure if it's too soon to contact HR or if I should wait a few months before reaching out. I've heard mixed advice; some say I should talk to my manager first, while others suggest it might be better to look for new opportunities instead. I'm really torn about what to do next.

I’m currently feeling overwhelmed in my job as a shift worker. I've been in this role for six years, and the rotating shifts have taken a toll on my mental health, which has been struggling with depression. I used to enjoy my work, but now it feels like a constant battle just to get out of bed and go in. The thought of facing another 12-hour shift is exhausting, and I dread going back every time I’m off. Despite my unhappiness, I’m hesitant to quit because I have a family to support and bills to pay. I know I could probably find another job quickly, thanks to some connections, but I’m just so drained that I don’t know if I have the energy to make that leap. I’ve been seeing a therapist, but it hasn’t helped much, and I feel isolated at work since we can’t listen to music anymore, which used to help me cope. I’m at a loss for what to do next. I want to leave this job, but the fear of not being able to pay my bills is holding me back. I’m really struggling to find a way forward.
