I recently found myself laid off from my job at Oracle, and it's been a tough time trying to figure out how to manage my finances, especially with my home loan EMIs. I’ve been reaching out to others in similar situations to see how they’re coping. Many have shared their strategies, like relying on savings they built up during previous economic downturns or utilizing public assistance programs. Personally, I’m grateful to have my mum by my side. We purchased our house together in 2024 in the Los Angeles county area, and living with my parents has been a blessing. My mum's government nursing retirement pension is currently covering half of our mortgage, which gives me some breathing room while I search for a new job. It’s a relief to have this backup plan in place, something we discussed when we bought the house. I hope to find work soon, but for now, we’re managing as best as we can.
