  1. 1

I was laid off from my role as a project/program manager in the hardware and software industry. I received a meeting notice from my skip manager and HR, where they initially framed it as a regular catch-up. However, during the meeting, I was informed that due to recent restructuring, my position was eliminated, and my last day will be December 31st. They offered severance, which is a small relief, but the reality is that I only have a few days left of employment. The situation is particularly stressful for me because I’m currently on a visa, and I have just 60 days to secure a new job. If I can't find something soon, I’ll have to move back home with my family. I’ve been working primarily in NPI/NPD within manufacturing, and I’m located in the NYC metropolitan area. While I know I need to start applying for new positions immediately, I also have to consider the challenges of job hunting during the holiday season. It’s a tough time to be looking for work, especially with the added pressure of my visa situation.
