I currently work as an hourly employee at a seasonal job where my workload is extremely light this time of year. I find that my actual tasks only take about an hour to complete, but I'm required to stay the entire day to avoid being sent home and losing pay. This creates a frustrating situation where I have to appear busy, but I'm not allowed to read or use my phone, and I can’t bring in my own computer. This temporary position is starting to feel unproductive and is affecting my mental well-being. I'm actively looking for another job, but in the meantime, I'm struggling to stay sane with all this downtime. If anyone has suggestions for how to cope with such a situation, I would greatly appreciate it.
