I just got laid off from my job in commercial printing, where I had been working for the past two years. Lately, things had been really slow, and I had a feeling layoffs were coming, but I hoped I wouldn't be the one affected. I was more of a jack of all trades at the company, handling a bit of everything, but it seems like that wasn't enough to secure my position. They are paying me for the rest of the week, but that's it. At least they said I could use them for referrals, which is a small consolation. During my conversation with my boss, he mentioned that I had discussed wages with other employees, which he deemed inappropriate. This conversation happened over six months ago, and I was never told it was an issue until now. I’ve always received positive feedback and never faced any disciplinary actions related to my performance. I could have brought up a serious issue regarding a coworker who was harassing another employee, but I didn't want to deflect from my own situation or put anyone else in an awkward position. Now, I'm feeling lost and betrayed. This was unexpected, and I'm really concerned about what the future holds for me.
