I have been working at my current job for two years, and I've recently felt frustrated with my salary, especially since the newest hire is making more than I am. I decided to ask my manager for a promotion, but I didn't mention that I knew about the other person's salary. I was informed that I will be getting the promotion, but it won't take effect until next year, which leaves me feeling a bit annoyed and uncertain about what that really means for my future here. While waiting for the promotion, I have been actively searching for other job opportunities, but so far, nothing has panned out. I recently heard back from a potential employer, and the process is still in the early stages. I'm hopeful that it will lead to something good. However, I'm concerned about the implications of leaving my current job for a new position, especially since both roles are within the same institution. I wonder if job hopping from one tech position to another will cause any issues.
