I lost my job back in February and have been relying on unemployment benefits since then. Today, I discovered that my former employer issued a "forced distribution" check from my 401K on May 30, which I had no idea about until I found it buried in my junk mail. Apparently, since the amount was under $1000, they sent it automatically. I know I need to report this check on my weekly unemployment claim, but I'm worried about doing it correctly. I want to avoid any issues with fraud, especially since I just realized I received the check today. I understand this will likely reduce my benefits for this week, but I hope it won’t affect my benefits moving forward. I've been dealing with a lot lately, including my child's significant medical issues, which have added to my stress while searching for new employment. I'm feeling overwhelmed and just want to make sure I'm handling everything right with my unemployment claim.
