I recently graduated with a degree in Zoology and have been actively job hunting. I received an offer for a Vet Tech position, which was my second choice, but I haven't yet interviewed for my top picks—two entry-level government jobs that I really want. I’m feeling anxious about the situation because I would much prefer to work in state government. I have 10 years of work experience, but I'm worried that if I decline the Vet Tech offer, I might miss out on the government jobs as well. I'm trying to figure out how to delay accepting the Vet Tech position without burning bridges, especially since a colleague went out of their way to write me a great recommendation. I really hope the Vet Tech job has some drawbacks, like poor pay or benefits, to make my decision easier. I’ve been without benefits for three years, and I can’t go back to that.
