I had a great interview last Tuesday for a position I'm really excited about. It was with the director of the department, and we had a fantastic conversation that felt more like a friendly chat than a formal interview. At the end, they mentioned that HR would reach out to schedule a follow-up interview with the current employee in the role, who is leaving soon. The next morning, I sent a thank you email and followed up with HR on Thursday to check in and offer my availability for the next interview. However, it's now Monday, and I haven't heard back from either HR or the director. I usually only communicated with HR before meeting the director, so this silence is a bit concerning. If I don't hear anything by Wednesday, I plan to send one last follow-up to HR. I know the person currently in the role is leaving in the first week of August, and I want to give my current employer two weeks' notice, so I'm feeling a bit of pressure. I'm wondering if this delay is normal, especially since I really want this role. It seems like every company has a different timeline, and I’m just anxious because of how much I want this opportunity.
