Then, on July 11th, my dad passed away unexpectedly, which completely changed my life. Just when I was trying to cope with that loss, I received a call saying my new position was eliminated due to budget cuts. My boss was kind, but I can't help feeling frustrated. Why hire for a role that you can’t support financially? I’m really struggling with my grief and the job search. I had a phone screening yesterday that went okay, but the recruiter was so upbeat and I couldn't match her energy. Despite being fully qualified and living just 15 minutes from the office, I received a rejection email this morning. At 31, I’m worried about how two layoffs on my resume will look. I’m currently receiving unemployment, but it only lasts for 18 weeks, and I have about $1500 in monthly expenses. I’m really unsure how long I might be out of work and what my next steps should be. Any advice would be appreciated.
