I recently went through a frustrating experience with a recruiter for a critical role at a tech company. Two weeks ago, they reached out to me, emphasizing the urgency of the position and asking if I could clear my schedule for three rounds of interviews within just forty-eight hours. I rearranged my meetings, stayed up late to complete a technical task they insisted was essential for the final decision, and gave it my all. They even told me I was the top candidate and that the team loved me. However, after that initial excitement, I heard nothing for ten days. When I finally followed up, I received a generic automated response saying they were still aligning on headcount requirements. It left me feeling bewildered and frustrated. If the role was so urgent that I had to jump through hoops, how could it suddenly not be urgent anymore? It feels like companies are just testing how quickly candidates can respond before leaving them in the dark. This whole process has been exhausting and disheartening.
