Applied at bank for compliance/risk

I'm currently facing my first layoff at the bank where I work in compliance/risk. I've been informed that the layoff is coming soon, but I don't have a specific date yet. I'm considering my options: if I wait for the severance package, I could receive around 8 months of pay plus a payout for my unused PTO. However, I'm also eager to find a new job for stability, but so far, I haven't even landed an interview. I'm feeling uncertain about whether to keep searching for a new role now or wait it out for the severance. I've been reading advice from others who have been in similar situations, and it seems like there are pros and cons to both approaches. I just want to make the best decision for my future.
